BRAZIL – More Immigration Regulations Published

On 22 December 2017, the National Immigration Council published further Normative Resolutions regulating residence authorisation for foreign professionals. The key changes relate to residence authorisation for intra-company training.

In addition, on 26 December 2017 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a new rule which requires applicants for initial or extension residence authorisation who wish to exit and re-enter Brazil to obtain a visitor visa while their residence application is pending

AUSTRALIA – New Ten-Year Visitor Visa and Other Changes

Effective 19 November, a new Frequent Traveller stream of the Subclass 600 visitor visa will allow multiple entries for business or tourism for up to three months at a time, during a validity period of ten years.

Other changes this week relate to the introduction of the previously announced new Temporary Activity visa framework, and to a new requirement for certain visa applicants to submit a polio vaccination certificate.

INDONESIA – Five-Year Multiple-Entry Visitor Visas Now Available

Effective 28 June 2016, foreign nationals can apply for a multiple-entry visitor visa (Visa Kunjungan) valid for five years, rather than for just one year, as previously.

Another change is that former Indonesian citizens and their families with multiple-entry visitor visas can now have their initial 60-day stay permit extended twice for 60 days each time, for a total stay of 180 days before they have to leave the country and re-enter (under the same five-year multiple-entry visitor visa).

KENYA – Electronic Visa System Replaces Visa on Arrival

Effective 1 September 2015, foreign nationals requiring a single-entry visa for travel to Kenya for business or tourism, or a transit visa, are now required to obtain an eVisa online before travel, rather than applying manually for a visa on arrival in Kenya.
