Effective 1 December 2017, the Department of Home Affairs (DHS) of South Africa will implement a reciprocal visa waiver for Angolan passport holders for visits of up to 30 days per visit, up to 90 days per year.

SOUTH AFRICA and RUSSIA – Reciprocal 90-Day Visa Waiver Implemented

Effective 31 March 2017, Russian nationals no longer require Port of Entry Visas in advance of travel to South Africa for the purpose of general business, tourism or family visits, and may be issued with a Visitor’s Visa valid for up to 90 days at the port of entry upon arrival in South Africa.

Equally, South African passport holders no longer require visas to enter Russia for stays of up to 90 days for the same purposes.

SOUTH AFRICA – The Department of Home Affairs Will No Longer Honour or Transfer Valid Temporary Residence Visas Endorsed in Expired Passports

Effective January 2017, the Department of Home Affairs (DHS) of South Africa will no longer honour Temporary Residence Visas (TRVs) issued with a validity period exceeding the foreign national’s passport expiry date, beyond the expiry date of the passport.

In all instances, where the DHA or a South African Mission abroad has issued any TRV with a validity date which exceeds the validity date of the passport, regardless of the period, the DHA will deem the visa to have expired upon the expiry date of the passport. The DHA will also not transfer a valid visa from an expired passport into a new passport.
