IRELAND – Authorities Clarify 90-Day Validity of Letter of Approval for Atypical Work Scheme

Effective immediately, the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) has clarified an existing rule that, for the Atypical Worker Scheme, letters of approval issued for entry clearance must be used within 90 days of issuance, after which they will become invalid.

IRAQ – Visa Letters of Approval Limited to Three Months Validity

Effective December 19, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior has begun limiting the validity of Letters of Approval (LOAs) for all visas to three months. Previously, LOAs were issued with varying validity periods depending on visa type, giving LOA holders up to one year in which to enter Iraq and activate or renew their visas.

SAUDI ARABIA – Validity of Block Visas Reduced to One Year

Effective immediately, companies in Saudi Arabia will have to utilize their block visas more quickly in order to hire foreign employees. The Saudi Ministry of Labor has announced that it is reducing the validity period of its block visas from two years to one year.

Thus, companies now have just one year to recruit and hire the needed foreign workers before their block visa automatically expires.

UKRAINE – Major Changes to Immigration Rules

Effective 27 September 2017, the regulations governing work permits and temporary residence permits have been amended, introducing changes to permit categories, validity periods, minimum salaries, government filing fees, notification and renewal rules and documentary requirements, among other changes.

Note that further clarification of the changes is expected from the Ukrainian authorities, and that there may be delays while the new regulations are implemented.
