VIETNAM – New Notification Requirement for Early Termination of Work Permits

Effective immediately, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) has issued a circular which re-introduces the requirement to notify provincial Departments of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DeLISA) of early termination of work permits, and introduces new work permit application forms. Implementation is ongoing and depends on the province.

VIETNAM – Some Provinces Now Require Residence Card Cancellation Before Departure

Effective immediately, the immigration authorities in some provinces in Vietnam are requiring foreign nationals who are terminating their assignments and leaving the country to surrender and cancel their Temporary Residence Card (TRC) prior to their departure. In these cases, the foreign national and any dependents will have to apply for an exit visa to be able to leave Vietnam.

THAILAND – Recent Amendments to Foreign Employee Rules

Effective 28 March 2018, the Emergency Decree on Managing the Work of Foreign nationals (No. 2) B.E. 2561 (2018) introduced some important changes to the immigration and employment rules for foreign nationals.

The decree also reduces the severe and complex penalties on non-compliant employers and foreign national employees imposed by Emergency Decree B.E. 2560 (2017).
