Effective 19 March 2018, a new, simplified process for applications for change of immigration status has been introduced, with in-person attendance at the immigration office, and an online application tracking system.
Previously, several more steps were required, and it was possible to authorize a third-party representative to submit the application at the immigration office.
Effective immediately, the National Superintendency of Migration of Peru has repealed the previous requirement for foreign nationals resident in Peru to pay the “annual aliens rate” (TAE – Tasa Anual de Extranjeria) in the first quarter of each year.
Effective immediately, the National Superintendency of Migration of Peru has extended the right to apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (PTP – Permiso Temporal de Permanencia) to all Venezuelan migrants who entered Peru before 1 August 2017.

Effective 26 March 2017, qualifying Indian nationals will be able to enter Peru visa-free for business or tourism, for one or more stays totalling up to 180 days per year.
A new immigration law (legislative decree No.1350), effective 1 March 2017, will reorganise Peru’s immigration categories into temporary and resident categories, and allow family members of foreign national residents to work with dependent status, among other changes.
This follows changes to certain documentary requirements for resident worker and designated worker visas effective 23 December 2016.
