BULGARIA – Amendments to the Labour Mobility Law

Effective 23 May 2017, Bulgaria has passed amendments to the Labour Migration and Labour Mobility Act which relax the requirements for issuance of EU Blue Cards for non-EU nationals, increase the allowed ratio of foreign national to Bulgarian national employees and transpose into Bulgarian law EU Directive 2016/801 “on the entry and residence of third-country nationals for the purposes of research, studies, training, voluntary service, pupil exchange schemes or educational projects and au pairing”.

SWITZERLAND – 2017 Quotas Exhausted for EU/EFTA L and B Permits for Assignees

The 2017 quota for short-term L permits and long-term B permits for assignees from European Union (EU) / European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA) countries, has been filled.

For new, incoming EU/EFTA nationals who are assigned to Switzerland but remain on their foreign employment contracts, new permit quotas will only be available from 1 January 2018.

ITALY – Posted Worker Notification Not Required for Intra-Company Transfers
