[UPDATE] On 11 March 2019, the UAE cabinet approved the regulatory framework for the issuance of five and ten-year visas. Previously, residence visas were only valid for up to a maximum of three years.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Further Details of Long-Term Visa Scheme

On 24 November 208, the UAE cabinet approved new long-term residence visas, and announced further details of the qualifying requirements for certain key professionals, investors and entrepreneurs. Currently, residence visas are valid for up to three years.

The government announced the new visas on 20 May 2018, and implementation is now expected early in 2019.

SINGAPORE – New Vaccination Requirement for Dependent Children

Effective 1 February 2019, the Ministry of Health will require documentation of diptheria and measles vaccination to be submitted by foreign-born children, in support of applications for long-term immigration passes.

CZECH REPUBLIC – New Consular Appointment-Booking System

From 1 December 2017, a new appointment booking system has been introduced at Czech consulates. Applicants must now request a long-term visa or residence permit appointment by email.

However, requests for appointments sent during December show that the process and timing vary significantly between consulates (from several weeks to several months).

Consulates at which it was challenging to obtain appointments in 2017 continue to grant appointments for up to several months after the appointment request.
