PERU – New Streamlined Change of Status Process

Effective 19 March 2018, a new, simplified process for applications for change of immigration status has been introduced, with in-person attendance at the immigration office, and an online application tracking system.

Previously, several more steps were required, and it was possible to authorize a third-party representative to submit the application at the immigration office.

INDIA – Aadhaar Card Required for Certain Foreign Residents

Effective 1 July 2017, foreign national residents who have stayed in India for more than 182 days in the previous 12 months and are therefore required to pay income tax in India, must obtain an Aadhaar ID card in order to submit their income tax return (ITR).

An ITR acknowledgement form is required in support of visa renewal applications.

Previously, a foreign national only required a PAN (Permanent Account Number) to submit their income tax return.

QATAR – New Residence Cards Introduced

Effective 15 June 2015, the Qatar Ministry of the Interior (MOI) began issuing new residence / ID cards for new and renewing foreign national residents, replacing existing ID cards and passport stickers.

For the first time, children under the age of 16 will require their own ID card. The new cards will include the holder’s home address and must be presented with the holder’s passport when entering and leaving Qatar.
