EUROPEAN UNION – Posted Worker Reform Adopted by European Parliament

On 29 May 2018, the European Parliament voted in favour of adopting amendments to the Posting of Workers Directive (1996/71/EC). The amendments were agreed with the Council and the Commission at the beginning of March 2018.

Member states will have two years to transpose the rules into their national laws and must put them into effect by the end of this period.

CANADA – UAE Citizens Visa-Free Starting 5 June 2018

Effective 5 June 2018, nationals of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will no longer require a visa to enter Canada. UAE nationals will be granted entry with only a valid UAE passport and an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). The new visa waiver for UAE nationals will permit stays of up to six months for the purposes of business, tourism, or family visits.

SWITZERLAND – Federal Council Confirms Initial List of Occupations Requiring Labour Market Test
