UNITED KINGDOM – Registered Traveller Service Expansion

The government has announced an expansion to its Registered Traveller Service, which facilitates faster entry at the UK border.

Effective 5 October 2017, business travellers and frequent visitors from 15 additional countries are eligible to apply for membership of the service.

On 1 May 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that several measures to relax the visa requirements for nationals of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will take effect on 5 June 2017.

SOUTH KOREA – Revised Rules for Frequent Visitor Visas

Effective 1 March 2017, foreign nationals qualifying for a five-year multiple-entry visa as frequent visitors to South Korea will have to apply for this visa at a Korean consulate before travelling, rather than receiving it at the port of entry on arrival, as currently.

AUSTRALIA – New Ten-Year Visitor Visa and Other Changes

Effective 19 November, a new Frequent Traveller stream of the Subclass 600 visitor visa will allow multiple entries for business or tourism for up to three months at a time, during a validity period of ten years.

Other changes this week relate to the introduction of the previously announced new Temporary Activity visa framework, and to a new requirement for certain visa applicants to submit a polio vaccination certificate.
