COLOMBIA – Longer Processing Times as All In-Country Visa Applications Must be Submitted Online

TURKEY – Delays Due to Implementation of New Registration System for Work Permit Applications

Effective 26 February 2018, the Ministry of Labour (MOL) requires work permit applications to be submitted using the sponsoring company’s KEP account.

Moreover, a secure electronic signature, obtained using a qualified electronic certificate, must be used to sign the application form. The signature of the representative of the employer can no longer be used.

However, as of 27 February 2018, the new MOL work permit application system incorporating KEP is not fully operational.

CZECH REPUBLIC – New Consular Appointment-Booking System

From 1 December 2017, a new appointment booking system has been introduced at Czech consulates. Applicants must now request a long-term visa or residence permit appointment by email.

However, requests for appointments sent during December show that the process and timing vary significantly between consulates (from several weeks to several months).

Consulates at which it was challenging to obtain appointments in 2017 continue to grant appointments for up to several months after the appointment request.

MALAYSIA – MYXpats Centre Announces Year-End Closure

MYXpats Centre has announced that the Expatriate Service Division (ESD)’s online system will be closed for system maintenance and updates from 26 December 2017 (6pm) to 2 January 2018 (8am).

During the closure, the system will not be accessible for submission of online applications (ESD company registration, Employment Pass, Dependent Pass, Long Term Visit Pass and Professional Visit Pass) or monitoring status of these applications.

Applications for passes must be submitted as early as possible if approval is to be obtained before the closure date.  For applications submitted closer to the closure date, the status will only be known after 2 January 2018 when the system resumes.
