CHINA – Employment Permit and Foreign Expert Certificate to be Consolidated

Effective 1 October 2016, the employment permit issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the foreign expert certificate issued by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, will be consolidated into a single permit.

CHINA – Beijing and Shanghai Authorities Stop Issuing M Visa Invitation Letters

CHINA – New Online Pre-Approval System delays Work Permit Processing In Beijing

Effective 4 January 2016, the Beijing Labour Bureau has introduced an online pre-approval system for Employment Licence and Work Permit applications, among others.

At present, the new pre-approval is taking three to five days to process, after which a manual application must still be made at the Labour Bureau.

At the end of December, the Beijing authorities announced that, in certain circumstances, alien employment permits may be issued with validity of up to three years, rather than the standard twelve months.
