The Singapore Ministry of Manpower has announced planned changes to the foreign worker quota rules, which may make it harder for companies to employ foreign workers.
Effective 1 April 2019, the application and issuance/renewal fees will be significantly increased for the Employment Pass, S Pass, Work Permit and other passes administered by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
Effective 20 April 2018, the General Directorate of Immigration will begin to enforce an existing, previously unenforced rule imposing a fine of USD 100 per month of overstay, or alternatively a ban from entering Costa Rica of three times the length of the overstay.
The penalties will be applied retroactively to any overstays since 1 March 2010.
